The Lumberjack Theory

First summer on staff.  We were on expedition and eating lunch or dinner on the back lawn.  It was one of those very rare occasions when I got to sit at the same table as Fr. Quinn.  He and I are sitting there eating, and (as the ladies always go first) the men come galumphing out onto the back patio, which is completely void of seats at that point.  One of the guys immediately begins complaining that there's nowhere to sit.

I look at him and say, "So what?!  Esto vir!  Sit on the ground!"
Father chuckles under his breath and says, "Jen you really can't stand weak men, can you?"
"No, Father," I reply.  "I can't.  And I have no problem calling out men to be men."
With a completely serious look on his face (like the gears are turning in his head), he retorts:

"We're gonna have to go to Washington and get a lumberjack for you."

I agreed.

And this

Coming soon: a post on authentic masculinity (ie, why Voyage of the Dawn Treader is so great), and then why trying to make, maintain, and retain solid friends after college sucks.

Oh! You should definitely do a post on authentic masculinity!! And one on authentic femininity! I've been pondering that lately and I'd love to see you write about it!
