Little Secrets: Playing with Fire

Reaction to Little Secrets: Playing with Fire by Emily Blake

Back Cover Reads:
"Her mother's in jail. Her best friend betrayed her. Who can Alison trust? Backstabber Kelly has the world at her feet. Who will she step on next? Sweet, handsome Chad seems like the perfect boyfriend. What is he hiding? Tough-as-nails Zoey is out for revenge. Is she more vulnerable than she thinks? Loyal friend. Bitter rival. Which is the real Tom?"

My thoughts:
Yeah.

149 pages full of lies, deceit, gossip, and materialism. It's basically a trashy pre-teen soap opera that feeds on everyone's need for gossip and betrayal. I had insomnia last night, so I polished it off in about 1.5 hours. It's the first in a series of three. The author is obsessed with the hollywood lifestlye, and was dropping things that i've never even heard of: Betsey Johnson, Vivienne Tam, Miu Miu, MAC, and LeSportsac. Who the hell knows about these types of things? Not people in small towns, that's for damn sure. *rolls eyes* The book is meh. It's a gaudy female version of The Godfather, only with less violence. I guess I could kind of relate to it because the grandmother figure shared many similarities with mine. The author's one saving grace was how she ended the book. One of the main characters walked into a building and it blew up. BAM. We're cut off from the action. Makes me want to read more.

Not good enough for Word Nerd Seal though. blechk.
