Back cover reads:
"It was a dark and stormy night; Meg murry, her small brother Charles Wallace, and her mother had come down to the kitchen for a midnight snack when they were upset by the arrival of a most disturbing stranger.
"Wild nights are my glory," the unearthly stranger t6old them. "I just got caught in a downdraft and blown off course. Let me sit down for a moment, and then I'll be on my way. Speaking of way, by the way, there is such a thing as a tesseract."
A tesseract (in case the reader doesn't know) is a wrinkle in time. To tell more would rob the reader of teh enjoyment of Miss L'Engle's unusual book."
My rxn:
It's REALLY SCREWY. I read this once when I was younger, and I think I liked it. How the heck I could have liked it, I have no idea. There's so much cool stuff in here, though. It basically comes down to a huge battle against good and evil. It was a pretty quick read... and it kept me interested.... i mean, what's more interesting than a 6 year old who can speak like someone with a PhD? eh. i'm not really turning backflips over it, though. The Christian imagery is, phenomenal, however. I also thought that it was interesting that Meg has to deal with characters who can't see... which kind of renders her helpless when attempting to describe the essence of something. I know that english teachers everywhere will want to stab me for saying it, but it's not all that great. The themes are just WAY too obvious for my taste. I think that it's pretty appropriate for 5/6 grade... but it doesn't win the word nerd seal of approval. Oh well.
